Locations
for which atmospheric transport, dispersion
and deposition calculations are made.
Sample
transport calculation for a release originating
in Milwaukee. The line shows the trajectory
of air movement.

Sample deposition calculation corresponding
to the transport shown above. The plot shows
the pollutant deposition pattern 12-24 hours
following the release.

Project
Summary:
We have constructed a realtime modeling system
for predicting atmospheric concentration
and deposition patterns resulting from unscheduled
releases of hazardous materials.
We simulate releases from 50 locations within
the Great Lakes Basin. Transport, concentration
and deposition patterns are automatically
posted to the web site www.uwm.edu/~kahl/Air four times daily.
These model calculations are designed to
be useful for emergency planning and response
strategies.
